Summary (description and reason to be)

The Geopark Centre in Cacchiamo was conceived as a geo-tourist reception centre and a way of providing an interactive experience to get to know the area, and it also has a dual purpose, which is to redevelop and reuse a school that is no longer used and was therefore being abandoned in a very small village so that it can also be brought to life.

The Geopark Centre is especially suitable for an age group ranging from 5 to 16 years, but can potentially be used at any age.

Application setting: context

Former school located in the Borgo of Cacchiamo, Calascibetta.
The municipal administration wanted to imagine an entirely new destination for the building, aimed at enhancing its tourist attractiveness. The building is destined for a complex system of tourist reception and presentation of the area, also serving as a cultural aggregation centre.

Expand knowledge of the Rocca di Cerere Geopark area both within the province and throughout the entire territory.

Results

The creation of an interactive centre.
The building serves as a socio-cultural community centre for the local inhabitants and the surrounding rural areas, with essential services that were not present until now.
