Focus

Promoting rural children reading and writing skill and learning practice

Description

The Street Library Project is a practical educational activity that set to provide accessible and inclusive education for all. It will target underserved/deprived rural community(s) in Northern Ghana. The Street Library Project is aimed at creating an innovative education to help improve reading and learning culture amongst young persons in Ghana, particularly in rural areas. Libraries plays a very instrumental role in the development of both urban and rural communities as they provide a lovable and environmentally friendly space for people especially kids to develop their potentials through reading of relevant books, interacting with friends and learning from one another.

Debriefing Reflection

  • In beginning of the programme, Children/students will sing/recite the National Anthem together, after that,
  • There will be an ice breaking exercise where participants will sing the Nursery common song to introduce their names.
  • A team member of the SEDARVP Ghana will brief them about what SEDARVP Ghana stands for and its responsibility to empowering children and youth for a better world.
  • The next role will be a coaching and mentoring session where an educator from the Ghana Education Service office, will present on the importance of child education in promoting community development.
  • After the mentorship, participants will be giving the chance to ask Questions about their educational career paths and their constraints in learning.
  • After this, there will be a 10minutes break, and Snacks will be served to participants.
  • After the Snack break, there will be a random reading session for all participants. All participants will then open randomly to any pages of their reading books and read by themselves for ten minutes.
  • After the random reading, all participants will be put into four groups.
  • Each group will be given a name as fellows; Team Red, Team Blue, Team Yellow and Team Green.
  • There will be a reading competition among those group teams, and after the reading competition, pens and pencils and note books will be distributed to all participants.
  • Participants students will be encourage to be more serious on their books, learn very hard to achieving their dream career in future.
  • In conclusion of the programme, participants and leaders thank Sedarvp Ghana team for such an educative and empowering project.
